Pursuant to the Amiri Decree of the year 2000 issued by His Highness Sheikh Saoud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi the Crown Prince Deputy Ruler, Economic Department was established and since then, successive administrations devote themselves to develop services, improve performance, simplify procedures and raise the efficiency of employees.
In the beginning of October 2006, the top management took several basic and important steps in the march of development and administrative reformation.. starting from changing the name into the Department of Economic Development which lead to series of changes including logo, organizational structure that reflect DED's view, mission, values, goals and responsibilities. In addition, defining career responsibilities of each administration and section to assure the quality of achievement and performance assessment, beside adopting a modern method in management of two branches, participation and decentralization.
To activate these changes and consolidate the development role of DED, we have taken effective steps to active the role of Studies and Statistics Administration through establishing Statistics section to collect and provide official statistics. This statistics should be available, classified and analyzed, to investors, decision makers and researchers. The section also provides advice to investors who are planning to start their business through assessment of feasibility studies of economic and scientific advice before embarking on implementation.
On the other hand, two types of business license were issued. "Al Ghad License" which permits house-activities and allows those who are looking to enter the world of business to start their own projects from home and be involved in the economic development in spite of their social or finance reasons.
"Agent License", as Service Agent, but serves another sector which is not covered by the activities of the service agent.
By all means, DED administration aims to achieve a number of goals, such as paperless administration, e-archive and applying the comprehensive employee to simplify and facilitate investor's transactions. Nationalization, of course, is on the top of DED's priorities, by offering vacancies and training courses to cadres.
DED's name is known all over the society thanks to its several economic activities and its role in completing the legislative framework and modernizing the previous legislation to conform to RAK economic development.
